Mark has spent large parts of his life working on computer architecture, software engineering, and user interaction design. Mark now specialises in Web 2.0 and Library 2.0 system design, particularly from user needs perspective and the application of interactive technology to fulfill those needs.
In the past Mark has worked extensively as a consultant, as a Lecturer in Computer Science (at the University of Manchester, where he is now a Honorary Research Fellow), and as a Senior Researcher at National/Panasonic’s former Tokyo Research Centre.
Mark is closely concerned with technology to enable peer-assisted learning in formal and informal learning contexts. Mark started and continues to lead the mPLE project.
David Workman – Techie Genius
David is a software engineer with an extensive knowledge of his field. His primary focii are web applications using Web 2.0 frameworks and RIA languages, search engines, databases, graphics applications and simulations, and the construction of tools.
David was formerly a Software Engineer at EMCC Consulting where he worked for several years of work on high-profile mobile phone applications. Outside of work, he is the Webmaster for the National Hamster Council and has a presence in several online communities, including StackOverflow.com.
David’s formal job title at Hedtek really is Techie Genius.
John Nolan – Intern
John is an intern at Hedtek for the duration of his MSc project, which is on the construction of high performance web sites and load and stress testing technologies.

We are building a web content team.
Part-timer Luca Rudlin is responsible for PLE end-user documentation including video production. Luca has previously produced a series of screencasts on the use of Flash for us, in support of a short Flash course.

Hedtek has a rolling internship programme, mostly, but not exclusively, for students registered on the Advanced Computer Science MSc in the School of Computer Science, University of Manchester.
We are looking for a part-time Ruby-on-Rails programmer and a part-time writer (or writers) who can write about technology and/or education.
